client criteria:

develop the interior of a previously added yet unfinished top level into a generously scaled bedroom for owners with en suite and walk through closet, laundry room, library and media room; re-develop main living level: entry, kitchen, home office and guest suite; introduce stairwell

 

design strategy:      

create vertical space as light well (house sits on north facing slope in park-like setting with mature pines); kitchen relocated and enlarged to occupy centre of home with natural light advantages;  foyer, kitchen, formal dining, terrace, library and media room orient to new staircase and mezzanine.
